New Teaching Series: Ark of the Covenant and House of God

Ark of the Covenant and the House of God
Today’s Focus: Introduction
Scripture: Hebrews 9:1-4

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
When we think about the Ark of the Covenant, what goes through our mind? We think about a big wood box with gold and two angels on top bowing down. Many say it represents the presence of God or the Holy Spirit. However many do not know nor understand and that is ok. In this series we will examine the Ark of the Covenant, what it is, what it represents and the contents within it. Not many people know about the contents within the Ark nor what they mean. There are some churches that have a replica of the ark of the covenant but do we know what it means or is it there just for show to appear religious and important? So let’s get started because I can promise you, if we desire to see the glory of God come back to the households of faith we must carry the ark. Now am I talking about everyone going out and building or buying a ark? Of course not! The ark of the covenant was lost about 580 years before Jesus came to earth. Well if it was lost that far before Jesus, why is it important for us to carry it let alone find it? To answer this question is to have an understanding of what the ark of the covenant is and it meaning and purpose.

The Ark of the Covenant represents the principals and ancient rules that guarantees the presence of God in the areas in which we live. Now we know that the Ark of the Covenant would exist in tents and when the temple was built it will come to rest in the Holiest of All. Let me show you this:

Hebrews 9:1-4: The verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made: the first, wherein was the CANDLESTICK, AND THE TABLE AND THE SHEWBREAD WHICH IS CALLED THE SANCTUARY. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which was called the Holiest of all; which had THE GOLDEN CENSER, AND THE ARK OF THE COVENANT OVERLAID ROUND ABOUT WITH GOLD, WHEREIN WAS THE GOLDEN POT THAT HAD MANNA, AND AARON’S ROD THAT BUDDED, AND THE TABLES OF THE COVENANT;

So here we see the treasures of the temple of Jerusalem laid out and notice that the Ark of the Covenant was in the Holiest of All. Moreover notice in the scripture it tells us what was in the Ark. It had a Golden Pot of Manna, Aaron’s rod and Tables of the Covenant. We will examine each piece because it is vital in understanding why we need to bring the ark of the covenant back into the House of God.

In the next message we will examine the ark itself and the representation of it.
