Golden Pot of Manna Part 1

Ark of the Covenant and the House of God
Today’s Focus: Contents of the Ark of the Covenant: Golden Pot of Manna Part 1
Scripture: Hebrews 9:4; Exodus 16

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
Hebrews 9:4: Which had the golden censer and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the GOLDEN POT THAT HAD MANNA, and Aaron’s rod that budded and the tables of the covenant.

The first item that we will look at is the golden pot of manna. This was a commandment from the Lord to keep this in the ark for all generations:

Exodus 16:33,34: And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the Lord to be kept for your generations. As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept.

Now we know that manna was bread that fell from Heaven.

Exodus 16:4: Then said the Lord unto Moses, behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law or no.

Now what is unique is that the Lord instructed them that they should go out each day and collect. Now in Exodus 16:5 the Lord instructs them on the sixth day to collect enough for two days. There was even a process and order for the collection of bread.

Exodus 16:16: This is the thing which the Lord hath commanded, Gather of it every man according to his eating, an omer for every man, ACCORDING TO THE NUMBER OF YOUR PERSONS TAKE YE EVERY MAN FOR THEM WHICH ARE IN HIS TENTS.

Now it says that a man should go out and collect enough bread for every member of his household that is enough to fill them for that day. Now God strictly forbid the hoarding of the bread because if they collected more than they should, it would have worms and stink the next morning and some of the people did that and God was upset. Remember God was testing them to see if they would walk in His instruction (Exodus 16:4).

So now we have a historical look at manna and the instruction from the Lord to put in a pot and keep it in the Ark of the Covenant. Now we know that this is the type and shadow. In the next message we will collapse the manna that fell from the heaven to the eternal reality.
