Examining the Ark

Ark of the Covenant and the House of God
Today’s Focus: Examining the Ark
Scripture: Exodus 25:10-22

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
Now let’s look at the ark itself. We know that God gives us natural things and infuses then with eternal reality to be revealed. Now let’s look at this:

Exodus 25:10,11: And they shall make an ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof and a cubit and a half the height thereof. And thou shalt overlay it with pure gold, within and without shalt thou overlay it, and shalt make upon it a crown of gold round about.

Now why would God just not make the Ark gold but overlay the wood with gold? Because the wood represents humanity and the gold represents divinity. In other words it is humanity covered in divinity. Does that sound like any body we know? Of course! It represents the sons of God. Humanity covered in divinity.

Exodus 25:13: And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood and overlay them with gold.

The staves are the four posts that come out of the ark to allow the Levitical tribe to carry the ark. Notice the staves are made with wood but covered in gold. Same concept.

Exodus 25:16: And thou shalt put into the ark, the testimony which I shall give thee.

What is the testimony the Lord will give them? It is the tablets of the covenant.

Exodus 25:17: And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof and thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat.

So we see the mercy seat and the two cherubims are made of pure gold representing the heavenly. The mercy seat and the cherubims would be placed on top of the ark. Now let me lay this misconception to rest. The mercy seat is not the throne of God. If it was the throne of God then the angels would be equal to God and we know that is not true. But we will explain the concept of the mercy seat shortly.

The Ark of the Covenant is the only piece of furniture located in the Holiest of all. Hence this piece of furniture means a lot and has significant placement within the Body of Christ.

In the next message we will continue to look at the Ark and the concept of the Mercy Seat.
