Today’s Focus: Feast of Firstfruits
Scripture: Leviticus 23:10-12; Joshua 5:10-12; 1 Corinthians 15:20,21
Greetings Kingdom Citizens
Leviticus 23:10-12: Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, when ye be come into the land which I give unto you, and shall reap the harvest thereof, then ye shall bring a sheaf of the firstfruits of your harvest unto the priest. And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you: on the morrow after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. And ye shall offer that day when ye wave the sheaf a he lamb without blemish of the first year for a burnt offering unto the Lord.
This is the law of Moses as pertaining to the feast of firstfruits. Firstfruits began on the 18th day of the first month. So the firstfruits of the harvest is to be waved before the Lord. Now watch this because here is a powerful concept.
Joshua 5:10-12: And the children of Israel encamped at Gilgal and kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the Passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna anymore; but they did eat of the fruit of the land Canaan that year.
Manna was the bread from heaven. According to the scripture the manna ceased falling from Heaven and now they are to eat the fruit of the land of Caanan. Now what does all of this mean for us?
1 Corinthians 15:20-21: But now is Christ risen from the dead and become THE FIRSTFRUITS OF THEM THAT SLEPT. FOR SINCE BY MAN CAME DEATH, BY MAN CAME ALSO THE RESURRECTION OF THE DEAD.
So Christ is the firstfruits of the harvest and what is the harvest? The sons of God. He is the firstfruit raised from the dead and hence back in Leviticus 23, He is represented as that lamb of one year that is unblemished. In addition, it is the season to eat to enjoy the benefits of the planet. Noticed the children of Israel stopped eating the manna that fell from heaven and the old corn of the land now are eating the fruit of the land of Caanan. God gave us dominion in the Earth and we are to benefit from the land pending our obedience, submission and stewardship. None of this happens without the sacrifice (Passover), purging ourselves of the doctrine and ways of the world (Unleavened Bread).
In the next message we will look at the second feast or the three which is Pentecost.
