The Sons of Adam

Understanding the Sabbath

Today’s Focus: Building the Corporate Man Part 1: The Sons of Adam

Scripture: Genesis 4:25,26; Genesis 5:3,28-32

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

Now we know that when God got to Noah, we know that the conditions in the Earth we deteriorating so much to the point that God wanted to start completely over but found grace in the family of Noah. Noah’s family was the only family where the seed had not been corrupted by the evil of this world. But before we go any further about Noah, I want to take a step back and look back at Cain because we know that Cain killed his brother Abel. Cain produces sons in the Earth that will carry the same name as the sons of Seth and Seth was the son that would carry the righteous seed. Two of the names of the sons of Cain were Enoch (Gen. 4:17) and Lamech (Gen 4:18) so where am I going with this. The culture that Cain was building was a culture steeped in rebellion. He was carrying a parallel culture seeking to copy the original. This is what the devil does. He runs parallel trying to dilute the truth through deception.

Now we know that of all of Adam’s children and he had many, Cain clearly was not the one to carry the seed of Christ. So who was it? It was Seth.

Genesis 4:25,26: And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God , said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel whom Cain slew. And Seth, to him also there was born a son and he called his name Enos: THEN BEGAN MEN TO CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD.

Do we see this! The name Seth means substitute or replacement but the scripture said “she said this”. We believe as sons of God in regeneration, not substitution. However, Seth would be the child that would plug the gap that was produced by Cain killing Abel and a gap that the sons of Cain could not fill. Notice it was not until the lineage was Adam to Seth to Enos did man began to call on the name of the Lord. This is a very unique situation because Adam had many children, what made Seth out of all the other children the one that would carry the seed of Christ? Were not all the children born from Adam? Let me show you this scripture and it should blow your mind!

Genesis 5:3: And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son IN HIS OWN LIKENESS, AFTER HIS IMAGE; AND CALLED HIS NAME SETH.

Does that look familiar? Now listen, Adam lived 130 years before he got a son in his own image and likeness. What was the image and likeness of Adam originally? The image and likeness of God. God did not physically kill Adam directly after the fall in the Garden. Adam lived 930 years after the fall because before the fall, there was no time because Adam was eternal. But it took 130 years to produce this “son”. Adam’s purpose was completed once he produced Seth.

We know that Seth would have many children, sons and daughters. It took him 105 years to begat Enos and so you will see from the genealogy of Adam that the seed of Christ would pass through particular sons (Enoch and Lamech, sounds familiar you see, from the sons of Cain) and eventually we would get to this:

Genesis 5:28,29: And Lamech lived an hundred and eighty and two years, and begat a son: And he called His name Noah, saying, THIS SAME SHALL COMFORT US (GIVE US REST) CONCERNING OUR WORK AND TOIL OF OUR HANDS, BECAUSE OF THE GROUND WHICH THE LORD HATH CURSED.

The name Noah in Hebrew means “rest”. Noah would become the man of rest in that day because he will provide comfort or rest concerning the work of the hands of man. Noah had three sons at 500 years of age, Shem, Ham and Japeth. (Genesis 5:32). This lineage of children carrying the seed of Christ would be called the Order of the Sons of God.

In the next message we will look at this order and share some interesting information on Genesis 6.
