Entering the Sabbath Rest Part 2

Understanding the Sabbath

Today’s Focus: Entering the Sabbath Part 2: Hebrews 4 Study

Scripture: Hebrews 4:1-9

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

I want to take this scripture by scripture, line by line to show you that the Sabbath Day is not just a Saturday or Sunday observance but it is a virtual day that we live in currently right now called the Day of the Lord.

Hebrews 4:1: Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Now I want to point out right here that along with the promise of the Spirit comes the promise of entering into His rest. Remember back in Genesis 2 that the Lord created the seventh day and rested in that day. So that day that He created was a day of rest. Please keep in mind that God is eternal not chronological. Lastly, he personalizes this day by saying HIS REST. SO THE DAY IS HIS DAY! HINT. HINT.

Hebrews 4:2: For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

The gospel was preached to both physical Israel and the Gentiles but first, to the children of Israel. Now look, the gospel did not profit everyone according to the scripture so let’s look at the next scripture and see who profited and who did not.

Hebrews 4:3: For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

So the people who believed the gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ and received Him are the one who do enter into rest. This is a current day reality. It is not a rest that you get after death. This rest is available now. Psalms 95:11 is being quoted in this scripture. So to enter into the Sabbath is a choice and is available to every man this day.

Hebrews 4:4,5: For He spake IN A CERTAIN PLACE OF THE SEVENTH DAY ON THIS WISE, And God did rest the seventh day from all His works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into MY REST.

Once again we see the Lord making a reference to the fact that the seventh day or Sabbath is not a day in our chronological calendar but a place and position. So where do we find rest? Seated with Christ in Heavenly Places (Ephesians 2:9) in the Body of Christ. The concept of sitting is a position of rest.

Hebrews 4:6: Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief.

Hence not believing that Jesus Christ is Lord and the Risen Savior will prevent you from entering into the Sabbath. Now does that mean once you have received Christ, you have entered into the Sabbath absolutely but remember your spirit is at rest but your soul still needs to be trained by the Spirit to assume the position of rest and to be blindly lead by the Spirit.

Hebrews 4:7,9: Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying IN DAVID, TO DAY, AFTER SO LONG A TIME: AS IT IS SAID, TO DAY IF YE WILL HEAR HIS VOICE, HARDEN NOT YOUR HEARTS. FOR IF JESUS (JOSHUA) HAD GIVEN THEM REST, THEN WOULD HE NOT AFTERWARD HAVE SPOKEN OF ANOTHER DAY. THERE REMAINIETH THEREFORE A REST FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD.

Now this should close the case for you in these scriptures. The Sabbath day is a To Day, I AM moment. All those who will not harden their hearts will enter into the Sabbath. Now watch this! If Joshua would have given them rest (The Law of Moses has been established by the Lord, so the keeping of the Sabbath was in full effect) then there would be no need to speak of another day. This day is a virtual day of the eternal where the sons of God abide and work from the position of rest. Now the last verse says THERE REMAINETH, hence it is available to all that hear the Word of the Lord and receive it in their hearts, today!

In the next message we will look at some signs of the Sabbath rest being a Today moment and reality.

Peace, Love and Grace from the Father,
