The Role of the Preacher

Understanding the Sabbath

Today’s Focus: Sabbath Day: The Role of the Preacher, A Kingdom Perspective

Scripture: Matthew 13:18-23; Romans 10:14,15,17

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

Today we will use the parable of the sower to you bring this important message to you so you can understand who the preachers are. In the parable of the sower, the ground that received the seed are the hearers and the sowers are the preachers. Now these preachers are not just people who can speak really good and give three-point sermons with or without a hoop and a organ. No these are not the God defined preachers of the Word! The preachers of God are those people who have been employed and deployed by God to position the people to hear God. Now God sends prophets, wise men and scribes to bring us the Word of God. It is important to know who is sent by God and who went on their own because a lot of these people went and were not sent. Now, by the people hearing the Word of God, it is to build their faith but they must know who is the “sent one” to bring the Word of God to them.

This brings us to Romans 10:17 and we understand that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God but look before that scripture in Romans 10:14,15:

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? AND HOW SHALL THEY HEAR WITHOUT A PREACHER? AND HOW SHALL THEY PREACH, EXCEPT THEY BE SENT? AS IT IS WRITTEN, HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THEM THAT PREACH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE, AND BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS.

So the preacher of God is the one sent from God to bring the good news, the Word of God, to mankind that they may believe on the name of the Lord and find Sabbath or rest for their souls. Hence to know the Day of the Lord, you must know who the sent one is. To know the sent one is to hear the voice of God. The Word of God is a Spirit-to-spirit transfer of truth and when your spirit receives the Word of God from the “sent one” there is a high probability that person is your spiritual father and you should respond to the Lord and ask for your placement within the Household of Faith.

It is important to be placed with someone more mature in the season than yourself or how will you mature. For example we have Moses and Joshua, Elizabeth and Mary, Barnabas and Paul and Elijah and Elisha. Every believer should know who their spiritual father is because they are the ones assigned BY GOD, NOT BY YOU, to have a relationship with you to bring you to maturity.

In the next message, since we know that the Day of the Lord is the Sabbath Day let’s talk about the Man of Rest. This is what God desires for all of His children to become a people who labour from a position of rest.

Peace, Love and Grace from the Father,
