Will We Know the Day of the Return of theLord?

Today’s Topic: Will We Know the Day of the Return of the Lord?
Scripture: Matthew 24:36-42; Revelation 1:1

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
Now we could easily take the easy road out of this and say what most people would say and that is, no. But is that correct? Well the typical scripture that is used to justify this answer is this one in Matthew 24:36:

“But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only”

Ok it sounds very straight forward but if we read this closely then we are presented with some questions and one in particular that will shake your world. Jesus said no man, nor the angels know the day and hour of the return of the Lord. So with that, when Jesus said that, did Jesus know the day of his return at that time? The answer is no! Why? Because he said no man knew. Mark 13:32 says this: “But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, NEITHER THE SON, BUT THE FATHER.” Now I know some may want to delete this but please stick with us the revelation is mind-blowing, and as you have read in your own Bible we see when Jesus made the statement, He did not know. Now Jesus said that only one person knew of the hour and the day of His return. He said it was God the Father. Now we have a slight dilemma, Jesus is saying right here at this point in time in the scripture that He does not know, nor the angels but only the Father?

Does Jesus know today when He will return? Well the easy answer for most is “yes” but if you had to back that up, could you? Well, if the Father at the time knew of Jesus return and Jesus at the time did not know, that means at some point, God the Father told Jesus. Can we prove that in scripture? Absolutely! Look at Revelation 1:1 and this has always been there:

“The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto Him, to shew unto his servants things which must come shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by His angel unto his servant John”

Now when most people read this, they think that this is the revelation that Jesus gave to John and that is wrong because that is clearly not what the scripture says. It says the Revelation of Jesus Christ, WHICH GOD GAVE TO HIM! So Jesus is the recipient of this Revelation from God the Father. Remember back in Matthew 24:36 Jesus said only the Father knew. So what changed since Matthew 24 and Revelation 1? How about the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and His ascension back to the Father has all happened since Matthew 24. So after Jesus had came and accomplished all that He was sent to do and ascended back to the Father, now the Father tells Jesus when He will return. But we still have a problem. Jesus said that no angel, nor man knows that day. But go back to Revelation 1:1 because there is something there to satisfy that situation. Since Jesus has all power and authority and God the Father gave Jesus the Revelation of His Return what did Jesus then do? According to Revelation 1:1, God gave the revelation to Jesus to show His servants? Who are his servants? It says He signified by his Angel unto his servant John. Now, do the angels know? Yes. Now does man know? Yes, because Jesus told John. Do we know today? No. That has not been revealed to us as of now. Now that may seem to be contradictory but it is not.

What we fail to realize is that we have so many people trying to calculate and plug in computers when the Lord will return and all have come up wrong and erroneous. The day of the Lord’s return is not a fixed date. It cannot be delayed but it can be advanced and let me show you. Matthew 24:22 says: “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days SHALL BE SHORTENED. Do we see this? So the return of the Lord will not be delayed but it can be advanced. But let me say this and we will pick this up in the next message, there is a generation of the church that will know the exact day of the return of the Lord. They will be told through the Seven Spirits of Christ, Lordship, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, counsel, power and the fear of the Lord. Do we know today? No, but they will. I would like to show you this in scripture in the next message.
