New Series: God's Appointed Feasts - Introduction

Series: God’s Appointed Feasts
Today’s Topic: Introduction
Scripture: Leviticus 23:1,2; John 4:23,24

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
This is a very unique topic for me but one after God showed me the significance and importance of these feasts, I realized this is something that the body of Christ needs to have knowledge of. Now what are these feasts that we are talking about? In this series we will look at these special feasts that are in the Bible and look at the significance of these feasts to the body of Christ. I know someone will say, well they are all Jewish feasts but I would like for you to remember that everything done in the Old Testament is a type and shadow of the truth that will be revealed. So it is important to examine these feasts because there is a truth behind each of them and God wants us to celebrate but do it in truth and in spirit. Leviticus 23:1,2 states:
“And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts”
Here are the feasts we will be looking at:
God’s Appointed Feasts:
1. Feast of Passover (Pesach)
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread (Chag Hamatzot)
3. Feast of Firstfruits
4. Feast of Weeks: Shavout (Pentecost)
5. Feast of Trumpets: Rosh Hashanah
6. The Day of Atonement: Yom Kippur
7. Feast of Tabernacles / Feast to the Lord (Sukkot)

Now in order to get a sense of where these feasts happen in the Bible, you have to know the Jewish calendar and the corresponding months as they are named in the Bible.
Jewish Months – Biblical Correlation
1. Nisan – Abib
2. Iyar – Ziv
3. Sivan – 3rd
4. Tammuz – 4th
5. Av – 5th
6. Elul – 6th
7. Tishri – Ethanim
8. Kheshvan – Bul
9. Kislev – 9th
10. Tevet – 10th
11. Shevat – 11th
12. Adar I – 12th
13. Adar II (Leap years every 3 years)

Now you may think this is useless information but it is vital to know this and keep this message around in this series because when we discuss the feasts, the Bible will refer to the months as stated and it will help you with understanding the time of the year and why this feast is done. I promise you, if the Holy Spirit that abides in me is the same and you have a yearning for understanding, when you see this, you can without a doubt see just how awesome God is and how He orchestrated these feasts to inform not only His church, but also the lost sheep of Israel. I pray that you study and allow the Lord to give you understanding to this powerful revelation.

At the Father’s Service,
