The Trump of God

Today’s Topic: The Trump of God

Scripture: Leviticus 23:23-25; Matthew 24:31; 1 Corinthians 15:52; Revelation 11:15; 1 Thessalonians 4:16

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

As we have been studying we see that there is a long blast of the trump of God and the dead shall rise first and then the return of the Lord (1 Thessalonians 4:16). But if we look back at Matthew 24:31 Jesus says that “He (Jesus) will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” Now do you think the disciples had at least a concept or idea of what this meant? Of course they did, they were Jews and they understood why the trumpets are blown. Today we will look at this wonderful revelation.

Now when we see trumpets in the scriptures it can be referring to silver horns but it also can be referred to what is called the shofar. A shofar is a instrument made from a ram’s horn. Now when the shofar is blown it can signify three things:

1. A Holy Assembly

2. A Warning of Danger

3. Arrival of a King

Now where does this come from? For that we look back at Leviticus 23:24,25:

“Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a Sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation”

This feast as we know it is called “The Feast of Trumpets” but to the Jews it is called Rosh Hashana. Rosh Hashana it is also called Yom Teruah (The Day of the Sounding of the Shofar) and the Head of the Year, because it begins the New Year for the Jews. Rosh Hashana is the first and second days of the Jewish New Year in the month of Tisheri. Jews celebrate this holiday as the birthday of the world and the day God created man. In addition on this day, God is proclaimed as the one true King. Rosh Hashana is also the first of the Autumn Feasts. If you know agriculture, the season of autumn is when you harvest (Hint, Hint). It is celebrated in particular by the blowing of the Shofar. Now during these two days the Shofar can be blown with 3 different sounds:

1. Tekiah: One Long Straight Blast

2. Shevarim: 3 medium wailing sounds

3. Teruah: Nine quick blasts in short succession

Now at the end of this celebration a long blast called the Teki’at Shofar is blown and this is also called the last trump and this signifies victory or good news. What is the good news: The Arrival of the King. Now in Matthew 24:31, 1 Thessalonians 4:16 and Revelation 11:15 all tells us of the last trump being blown and it being a long blast and it signifies the return of the Lord.

Why am I telling you all of this? Would it be unique if the Lord returns on the last day of Rosh Hashana when the last trump is blown and this time it will be blown by the archangel to signify the arrival of the King, Lord Jesus, the Christ. What greater sign to the Jews during this perilous time when they realize the person sitting in the temple is not the True Messiah and this is why Jesus tells them in Matthew 24:15-18 to run to the hills and mountains and leave everything. They know the days and the meanings of the feasts of these days and that long blasts at the end of Rosh Hashana is the last trump of that festival, it is a long blast and signifies victory and also the arrival of the King.

So these trumpets mean something and it is important for us to get some type of understanding so that we can be prepared and understand why they are being blown and what they mean.
