Attributes of the Sons of God

The Mind of Christ

Today’s Focus: Operating in the Mind of Christ: Attributes of the Sons of God

Scripture: Philippians 2:1-8; Ephesians 2:4-6; Romans 6:4

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

If we are to operate in the Mind of Christ then there are some attributes we must have and some attributes we must sacrifice and kill because they will hinder our move in the Body of Christ. Let me give you the scripture and then we will show the attributes of the sons of God operating in the Mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:1-8: If there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be LIKEMINDED HAVING THE SAME LOVE, BEING OF ONE ACCORD, OF ONE MIND. Let nothing be done through STRIFE OR VAINGLORY; BUT IN LOWLINESS OF MIND LET EACH ESTEEM OTHER BETTER THAN THEMSELVES. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU, WHICH WAS ALSO IN CHIRST JESUS: WHO BEING IN THE FORM OF GOD, THOUGHT IT NOT ROBBERY TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD: BUT MADE HIMSELF OF NO REPUTATION, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, HE HUMBLED HIMSELF AND BECAME OBEDIENT UNTO DEATH, EVEN THE DEATH OF THE CROSS.

The first attribute we must destroy if we are to walk in the Mind of Christ is selfishness. Selfishness is the number one indicator that you do not have the Mind of Christ. Moreover if you are selfish then you cannot deny yourself and the culture you exhibit is of a fatherless child or orphan. So we must be of a self-denying mindset to operate in the Mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:6-8 speaks to the humility of Christ. When the passage says “But made Himself of no reputation” He was humbly submitted fully to the Father’s Will. In addition Philippians 2:3 speaks of not doing anything through vainglory or self glory but do things in lowliness of mind which is humility.

In everything that Christ did He thought about others. Now this attribute makes and breaks a lot of people. The scriptures tell us to esteem others better than ourselves. Here is a thought. God who is life, humbled Himself and became obedient to death. For each and every one of us to come to Christ required a repentant heart. This requires humility because you recognized that sin was ruling your life and you no longer wanted to serve sin but serve the Father. Let me show you this scripture:

Romans 6:4; Therefore we are buried with Him by baptism into death: that like Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.

Now if Christ is raised from the dead and we are to be resurrected also, where are we raised to? The scripture says a newness of life. But what does that mean?

Ephesians 2:4-6: But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened (given life) us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved); AND HATH RAISED US UP TOGETHER AND MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES IN CHRIST JESUS.

Now knowing this can work in your favor and against you at the same time if you are not in the Mind of Christ. The good point is that you have a viewpoint to life from the right hand of Majesty in Heaven because you are in Christ Jesus. Now it works against you when you think more highly of yourself from that position and look down upon your fellow brothers and sisters. Now this brings me to this unique point. We must become like Jesus and leave the heavenly position and in humility and servanthood, overcome the world by putting down our soul and its desires. When we are able to do that, the Father then sends us out. We must always remain humble and meek and in the place of a son.

In the next message we will look at servanthood and show you how this is the highest order of your life, service to the Father.

Peace, Love and Grace from the Father,
