Today’s
Topic: The Shepherd – Part 1
Greetings
to the House of God:
Psalm
23:1: The Lord is my Shepherd I shall
not want
As
simple of a statement that is, it is becoming more and more of a question to
the actual manifestation within the lives of believers. This is a very personal statement by David
because of the use of “my”. We can bring
that to the Corporate in stating the Lord is OUR shepherd but let’s deal with
this on the micro-level.
What
is a shepherd? A shepherd is one who
leads and cares for a flock of animals.
It is not always sheep as we think but in this context we know we are
the sheep and Jesus Christ is the Shepherd.
Let us go back to the natural.
Shepherds care for the flock.
Shepherds feed the flock.
Shepherds have a relationship so intimately with the flock that they
only move at the sound that the shepherd makes.
Any other sound made by anyone else and the flock does not move. A shepherd knows how many sheep are in the
flock and will protect the flock with his very life and ensure that none are
lost. Now a sheep is most vulnerable
when it strays away from the flock and out of the sight of the shepherd. This is where predators lie in wait to kill.
For
many of us we have been carried away by our curiosity and itching ears of false
doctrine which has exposed many of us to the enemy to snare us to the systems
of this world. We have left the comfort and protection of the shepherd and the
longer you stay away the less familiar you become with His voice and more
familiar with the sounds of the surrounding world. This is why many people’s mindset have a
mixture of worldly doctrine and philosophy and the Kingdom. What happens in most cases they want the
Kingdom to line up with the perception of the world and it does not work that
way. Unfortunately many are trapped in
this mindset and it is going to take a radical level of persecution to wake
them up from a system that is meant to destroy them and keep them from their
Heavenly Father.
The
Shepherd is calling the sheep, even in this hour. He is sending out His sons who speaking His
heart in order to gather the lost sheep.
The longer you stay out the harder it will be for you to come back only
because your mindset would have adjusted to the climate of the world and when
you have been stuck in a climate it requires a radical shift in mindset to
leave where you have been comfortable.
Time
to come back to the Shepherd and know His Voice. The time is very critical and you must move
with haste.
Love
and Peace,
Calvin
