Repentance from Dead Works Part 1
Series: Milk of the Word
Focus: Life of a Son: Repentance from Dead Works Part 1
Greetings Sons of God:
If you did not get a chance to join us last Friday night for our household gathering, we discussed why it is important for us to know what the milk of the Word is. To view this teaching click on the link below:

Now going forward we will be discussing the milk of the Word which is the elementary doctrines of Christ.
Hebrews 6:1-3: Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms and of the laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment. And this will we do, if God permits.
The first doctrine every son of God must know and the Lord works it into their maturity is Repentance from Dead Works. Well when we examine this phrase, repentance from dead works, we think “ok we need to repent from works that lead to death.” Ok that sounds simple but what are the works that lead to death? Let me give you a few scriptures for you to read and then bring you to another perspective of this doctrine:
Exodus 20:1-17
Romans 1:20-32
Now these would seem to be the obvious ones but there is one that we do not think about and that is, living from your soul and not by the spirit. Now for many of you, you may not have heard about this one but if you can understand this one and learn to be lead by the Spirit you will not have to worry about those in the above scriptures. Let me start to lay the ground work for our next message because it is critical and I mean critical that you understand this because many struggle with this and when they do, they become very opinionated and when confronted by the Word of God they get defensive.
Man is what we call a tri-partite being. Meaning, he is made up of three components. Flesh, soul and spirit. How do we know this:
1 Thessalonians 5:23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ
So in the next message we will examine the soul so we can get an understanding of how we need to repent from dead works.
Peace, Love and Grace,
