Importance of Desire

Focus: Life of a Son Part 2: The Importance of Desire Greetings Sons of God: As I was coming home the Lord spoke to me about desire and the importance of desire in your maturity in Christ. Let me lead off with the Scripture from the previous message: 1 Peter 2:2: As newborn babes desire the sincere milk of the word that ye may grow thereby: Now why am I focusing so much on the word desire in this Scripture. The Lord said: “Your maturity depends upon your desire and yearning to want to learn, grow and have a relationship with Christ” Now there are a couple of things that we must evaluate to test our desire so let’s ask these questions: 1. Is your desire to learn the word daily or only on Saturday or Sunday when you go to church? 2. Do you ask your spiritual father or pastor questions that are burning within that you want to know? 3. When the pastor or spiritual father is preaching or teaching are you receiving and understanding the Word? 4. Is the spoken Word changing your life right now or has there really not been a change? Now after asking these questions we should see that desire has to do completely with you and only you. You can stay a babe in Christ and never mature and come into your inheritance because you never desired to want to know for yourself. Your relationship with Christ is only as good as your desire to want to know Him and to know Him is to learn His Word and learn His Voice. Now if you are coming to church with a true desire to be fed and you are not then through discernment you need to evaluate spiritually where you are. So many people are not in the right place because they desired to be around people that they chose upon how those people around them makes them feel. So many people are in the wrong body of believers because they like how that preacher preaches or they like the choirs and none of that should matter. It is God’s responsibility to place you amongst a certain body of believers because He knows it is for your benefit and maturity. Many times it is not a place of comfort, but it is a place of love, grace and peace amongst those believers and when the spoken Word is taught and you receive your desire to know should grow and in desiring the wisdom, knowledge and understanding of the Lord you will mature from a newborn babe to a mature adult in Christ. However, all of this is on you and your desire to want to know. Peace, Love and Grace, Calvin Calhoun, Jr.
