Bread and Nourishment

Culture of the Kingdom

Today’s Topic: Breaking of Bread: Bread and Nourishment

Scripture: Proverbs 14:12; Hebrews 5:12-14; Hebrews 5:8

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

We are continuing our discussion on the 3rd element of the culture of the Kingdom which is the breaking of bread. Now, in the last message we talked about the Bread of His Presence which was represented by 12 loaves of Bread being placed on a special table designed by God for the children of Israel. Now always remember that the Old Testament is full of types and shadows that are to bring us to a divine eternal reality. Next, we talked about two forms of bread. We talked about bread that brings about death and the bread that brings about life. When man sinned in the Garden he ate of the bread that brings about death. Now man seeks to find his own way to get bread for his physical consumption and survival. Proverbs 14:12: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. See the devil tricked mankind into following the direction given by the soul and disobey the direction that is given by the Spirit. Finally we talked about the prophetic declaration that the Lord made to tell the children of Israel that man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word proceeding out of the mouth of God.

Now physical bread is needed for consumption to nourish the physical body. We as human have more than a physical body to nourish, we have a spirit also that needs nourishing. How can we nourish the spirit? The spirit is fed by God Himself. When you are born again you are a newborn baby in Christ. The same way you naturally grow and your food changes with growth is the exact same way the Word of God is fed to you. 1 Peter 2:2:

“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”

So when you are a newborn you need the milk of the Word of God. So just like babies you need the foundational things that help grow your spirit in maturity in the Kingdom of God. Now look at this because this is powerful.

Hebrews 5:12-14:“For when for the time ye ought to be teachers (mature), ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principals of the oracles of God and are come such as have need of milk and not of strong meat. For EVERY ONE THAT USETH MILK IS UNSKILFUL IN THE WORD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS: FOR HE IS A BABE. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age (Mature), even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil”

Do we see this? How do we learn and grow in the Kingdom? We learn just like Jesus did, we learn by suffering.

Hebrews 5:8: “Though he were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which he suffered;”

Do we see this? Suffering is the way we grow and it is thorough obedience during suffering that we mature. Jesus suffered unto obedience and this is why the scriptures say He grew in favor with God and man. He grew in such a manner that He was the exact representation of the Father in the earth. In addition when Jesus and the three disciples went up to the Mount of Transfiguration in Mark 9, God the Father tells the three disciples that He is no longer speaking through the Law (Moses) and the Prophets (Elijah) but through Jesus. To be exact, Mark 9:7: “And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my Beloved Son: hear him”.

So God is speaking through His Son and it is from the Son of God that we receive food and nourishment for our spirits that will grow us and mature us in the wisdom and knowledge of the Father and His Kingdom. In the next message we will link this to the Bread of Life
