The Pictures and Principals of Households through Scripture

Households of Faith
Today’s Focus: The Pictures and Principals of Households through Scripture
Scripture: Genesis 7:1; Exodus 12:13; Joshua 7:14; Acts 2:46; James 1:1;

Greetings Kingdom Citizens
One of the things that the Lord is sealing within me is the foundation that the House of God is not based on an institutional model but a family model of fathers and sons. Sons of course refer to male and female. However I do not want to merely speak about it, I want to show you some pictures through the Scriptures to show you the necessity and need to migrate from the institution to the household of faith model.

Acts 2:46: And the continued daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,
Back in verse 42 we see the 4 imperatives of Kingdom culture (apostolic doctrine, fellowship, breaking bread and prayers). So the people continued in this culture and breaking bread (imparting grace through the Word of God) from house to house. Now in the Greek the word for house is oikos meaning household or family. So from household to household they broke bread. The scripture was not referring to residential units.

Genesis 7:1: And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
God tells Noah to bring all his house into the ark. The word house in Hebrew is bayith and it means family. God saves the household of Noah.

Exodus 12:13: And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the HOUSES (BAYITH) where you are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Now the same word for house is bayith. We know that the children of Israel took the blood of the lamb and put it over the physical doorposts of their dwelling places. We know that this is a type and shadow of the blood of the Lamb, Jesus is over the doorposts of our hearts that cover and protect our various households and families.

Joshua 7:14: In the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes and it shall be that tribe which the Lord taketh shall come according to the families thereof: and the family which the Lord shall take shall come by households; and the household which the Lord shall take shall come man by man

Right here is a perfect scripture describing the structure of the nation of Israel. Nothing about this says institution but everything says family. In the scripture we see the nation is broken down into 12 tribes. The tribes are broken down into families (clans). The families are broken down into households and the households consist of individual people. Now let me say this:

The eternal reality of anything is never less than type and shadow of the thing.

The reality we live in today is that we, the church, the House of God is the Spiritual Israel of God. Now what is the type and shadow? Physical Israel. Ok we are good so far! Now however physical Israel is structured so shall Spiritual Israel be also because physical Israel is the representation of the reality. How is Physical Israel structured? Joshua 7:14 tells us so Spiritual Israel is structured the exact same way. Question? Does spiritual Israel have 12 tribes? Let’s prove it!

Please keep in mind that James is writing to the church!

James 1:1: James a servant of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, TO THE TWELVE TRIBES WHICH ARE SCATTERED ABROAD, GREETING!
Case closed! So if the church has twelve tribes then these tribes consist of families and households. What do we have today? Denominations, sects and division and what is it that we need, family!

We will continue look at pictures of the household through Scripture.
