Worshipping Angels: The Forbidden Practice

The Holy Nation

Today’s Focus: Worshipping Angels: The Forbidden Practice Part 1

Scripture: Matthew 12:24; Colossians 2:18; 1 Timothy 4:1

Greetings Kingdom Citizens

We left off talking about the fact that the angels were created for man and to minister to the heirs of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). But these fallen angels, from their fall from Heaven, have always been seeking to get back to their former estate. Now God specifically spoke against the practice of worshipping angels because for one, they were created to serve the sons of God and not to be worshipped. In many of the interactions with a humans from an angel that was sent from God, the angel would have to correct the man in not worshipping them but to receive the Word of God and worship Him. We know that the ancient city of Babylon and the Tower of Babel was erected by the fallen spirits for worship and in an attempt to get them back into their previous state in glory. Of course we know that will never happen because the end result in revelation for their rebellion was death and the lake of fire. In scripture we have some unique references to the reason why we should not worship the angels.

The first situation we want to look at is the interaction between the god of this world and the King of Kings, Jesus Christ.

Matthew 4:8-10: Again, the devil taketh Him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve

Now look at this! We have a fallen angel seeking worship from a man, but not only a man but from God. Hence we have Jesus telling Satan that the order is you are to serve the Lord. No man should ever bow down and worship an angel. Satan was offering Jesus the kingdoms of the world but the condition was that Jesus was to worship or conform to the image and obey Satan. If Jesus had taken the deal, salvation would be over and we would all be eternally condemned. Let’s look another method of how angels try to get men to worship them.

Colossians 2:18: Let no man beguile (trick) you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.

Mankind who are influenced by these demonic spirits can present themselves in a nice, confident manner and teach doctrines that lead to the worship of angels by holding them in high esteem over the children of God. But notice Paul says do not let a man trick you of your reward. Now what is our reward? Eternal life and a life with the Lord forever. There are people and denominations in the earth that hold the angels in reverence and they pray to the angels. When we hold the angels in high reverence above Jesus then we have just made them god and put them in the exact place in our lives where God did not ever want them to be, which was equal to Him. Satan has planted ministers of unrighteousness in the church and there are thousands of people following them like a piped-piper. They present themselves in a certain manner and because the doctrine they preach is corrupt and wrong, the people learn about things that are not true and un-profitable for their spirit. We have denominations giving worship to angels such as Michael and Gabrielle and it is being taught to do so. However nowhere in scripture does it say that man should ever do this. The scripture does say that the angels serve but they are never to receive worship from man. We need to be very careful of the so called leaders who are being influenced by the fallen ones who are driven by prosperity and use the worldly systems to fund their hidden agendas and fantasies. Remember Jesus said Satan does not savour the things of God but the things of men.

In the next message we will look at real life situations where the angels have used entertainment to get worship from the children of God. You do not want to miss this.
